Q: How would you describe yourself in one word?
GOLDEN- for obvious reasons. It’s not just my name but way of living, it’s a lifestyle. I spread GOLDEN energy and positivity.
Q: How’s your feelings when people left good feedback about your hosting?
Extremely humbling. This is my true passion. I take a lot of pride in my work. If I am emceeing or hosting a live event in front of thousand people or interviewing celebrities on a red carpet, I am an extreme professional. I always do research to find obscure questions; I bring a lot of energy and have fun with it. I am always growing and learning and incorporating new techniques and technology. The gold selfie stick microphone is a huge hit and gets lots of attention.
Q: Can you please tell us more about your upcoming projects?
I am redesigning my “Golden Glasses” to add some of my inspirational quotes on them. I give out one pair of Golden Glasses a day to a stranger or someone I see doing a good deed. It helps spreads the art of giving and kindness. I have also started an interview style video podcast show called “Talk Golden to Me” and I love bringing on guests that have made a positive impact on this planet and like to give back.
Q: What do you do when not working?
When I am not working I am living at the sports fields. I have two active sons that play lots of sports. I love coaching them and creating memories with them. I am very competitive person but I always try to make it fun for my sons and their teammates. I bring out music, cheerleaders, smoke machine. I do anything to make it memorable and special, because they grow up so fast. I got a little carried away with my outrageous activities and I had to go on the Mel Robbins Talk Show to talk about my coaching style and my obsession with winning at all costs.
Q: Your favorite places?
I love being at home. It’s weird but I don’t get to spend enough time just enjoying my house with my family. I love a good staycation, you can catch me at the 1Hotel rooftop pool in Miami Beach, the Four Seasons Resort in Orlando, Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables or the Eua Plam Beach Report and Spa.
Q: What was it like filming the reality show with Ivana Trump?
This has to be a top five experience in my life. It’s was so exhilarating! It’s a lengthy process being casted on a reality TV show. They did some phone interviews, and then flew me out to Los Angeles and then before I knew it, I was in New York City with some of the most eligible bachelors around the country filming with Ivana Trump. I had a blast on the show and I am still friends with some of the contestants from it. Although I was runner up, the bachelorette always says she wished she picked me! Most people didn’t know this but the show was produced by FOX and was going to air after American Idol but it was sold to the Oxygen Network and W Network. My friends still say quotes I used on the show and love watching it .Luckily I was not a victim of bad editing on a reality show and I was portrayed in a good light. The show opened up many doors for me and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity.
Q: You seem to be involved with a lot of charities?
I have lived a very blessed life. I have always been raised on the importance of giving back and making a difference. A motto I live by is to “touch hearts and change lives.” I want people to know you don’t just have to write a check or donate money to support a cause. Sometimes just your voice goes a long way. There are so many smaller nonprofit charities that need awareness, volunteers and just a platform to educate the services being provided. I know its cliché, but you have you have to give to get in this world. So many less fortunate people, as a society it we take the time, we can really make a major impact.
Q: Did you always wear gold?
With the last name Golden, of course. My mom just showed me a picture of my sister and me in metallic gold bathing suits when we were toddlers. For my Bar mitzvah I had the shiniest gold vest you could imagine. The dying the beard gold is a new thing for me but the wife hates that, so that’s just a once in a blue moon look for me. I am obsessed with gold sneakers though. I probably get tagged or sent a couple times a week, “Golden, you need to get these!” If you bump into me it’s a guarantee I have some gold on! The gold speedo I only bring out for pool parties though.
